Day 1 - 8
Day 1: NZ – SINGAPORE/BANGKOKDepart Chch, Wgtn, or Auckland to our Singapore or Bangkok hotel.
Day 2: ARRIVE HANOIMorning flight to Hanoi, a city of tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture and lakes. We check into our hotel, exchange currency, and take a walking orientation to Hoan Kiem Lake.
Day 3: HANOI CITY TOURA half-day tour of Hanoi including Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (if open), Temple of Literature and the Ethnology Museum. In the afternoon we take a walking tour of the Old French Quarter.
Day 4: HANOI – HALONG BAYThis morning we checkout of our hotel and drive to to Ha Long Bay for our overnight cruise of Halong Bay where over 2000 islands rise dramatically out of the Eastern Sea.
Day 5: HALONG BAY – HANOIAfter breakfast we continue cruising the bay and then drive back to Hanoi. We stop at a ceramics centre along the way, before checking back into our hotel.
Day 6: HANOIToday is a free day for shopping or exploring Hanoi. There are options to visit other recommended museums and places of interest. In the evening we enjoy a performance of the world famous Water Puppets.
Day 7: HANOI - HUETransfer to Hanoi Airport for our flight to Hue. Check into hotel and take an orientation walk around Hue. The rest of the day is free time for shopping or relaxing.
Day 8: HUEMorning cruise on the Perfumed River. We visit Minh Mang Tomb and the Thien Mu pagoda on the riverbanks with its seven-storey tower.
Day 9 - 15
Day 9: HOI AN - HUEWe leave Hue with a stop-over at the spectacular Hai Van Pass. Here we enjoy expansive views of the coast and the photogenic fishing village of Lang Co. We continue on to explore Marble Mountain just outside Danang before arriving in Hoi An.
Day 10: HOI ANHoi An is an ancient trading port famous for its Japanese, Chinese & Portugese architecture. Today is free to shop and explore this unique town, famous for its clothing, art and silk markets. Take a walking tour of the Old Town to visit former merchants' houses and the 400-year- old Japanese bridge.
Day 11: HOI ANFree to shop and exploring Hoi An. Alternately swim at the beach, or take in a Cooking Course.
Day 12: HOI AN - QUI NHONThis morning we continue on to Qui Nhon, the capital of Binh Dinh province, with a stop at the My Lai massacre site on route.
Day 13: QUI NHON - NHATRANGWe travel south to Nha Trang with a lunch stop on the way. We visit the Po Nager Cham Towers before checking into our hotel.
Day 14: NHATRANGA full day is spent cruising around the area's beautiful offshore islands and swimming in the South China Sea.
Day 15: NHA TRANG - SAIGONToday we continue south to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) via Highway 1 with a stop at Ca Na Beach.
Day 16: SAIGONWe start with a half day city tour of Saigon: visiting the colonial-style Old Post Office, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Cho Lon (Chinatown) and the Ben Thanh Market. Shopping and free time.
Day 17: SAIGON –MEKONG DELTAA full day excursion to My Tho and the Mekong Delta. Cruise on the Tien River and visit Thoi Son Islet, where we enjoy tropical fruit with local tea, honey and coconut candy. Relax as we experience a boat ride through the small canals.
Day 18: SAIGON-CU CHIExcursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels: the amazing tunnel system where the Viet Cong lived and operated underground during the Vietnam War. We return to Saigon to visit the War Remnants Museum. Free time for more shopping.
Day 19: SAIGON – SINGAPORE/BANGKOKFor those not continuing onto Cambodia there is free time until transferring to the airport to depart Saigon to New Zealand.
Day 20: VIETNAM - SINGAPORE - NEW ZEALANDArrive back in Auckland.

Day 19: SAIGON - CAMBODIAAfter farewelling our travel companions we take the afternoon flight or travel overland from Saigon to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Visas’ are processed at the airport/border. After checking into our hotel we make a short visit to Wat Phnom and the Independence Monument.
Day 20: PHNOM PENH (B/L/D)This morning visit the fabulous Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, and onto the National Museum. After lunch we continue with a look into Cambodia’s tragic past with a visit to Toul Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields. (This tour is quite graphic.)
Day 21: PHNOM PENH – SIEM REAP (B/L/D)We depart early to Kampong Thom and onto Siem Reap. Siem Reap is the base for exploring the fabled temples of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer empire.
Day 22: SIEM REAP (B/L/D)Start touring with a visit to Angkor Thom city (the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, the Royal enclosure, the Leper King, and Prasat Sour Proat and the fabulous Ta Prohm, embraced by the roots of the enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers.) In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat temple, the most renowned Khmer temple. Buffet dinner with APSARA show at a local restaurant.
Day 23: SIEM REAP (B/L/D)Continue to explore Siem Reap visiting the local handicrafts & clothing market, and taking a boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake, the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia.
Day 24: SIEM REAP - SINGAPORE (B)Today we fly from Siem Reap to Singapore / Bangkok to New Zealand.
Day 25: AUCKLANDArrive in Auckland Airport before transferring to flights homeward.
